Sarv Ashram Foundation believes that creating a Bird Friendly Environment is not just love for nature but also a responsibility of humanity. When we provide food, water and safe place for birds, we create a healthy and balanced environment for our future generations. Birds are the sweet music of nature that connects us to life. They not only make the world around us beautiful but also play an important role in maintaining environmental balance. Today’s fast-paced life and increasing pollution have taken away the natural habitat of birds. Crowds in cities, felling of trees and modern technology have challenged their existence.
The objective of Sarv Ashram Foundation is –
* To create safe habitat for birds.
* To make every person aware of the care of birds.
* To create a society where birds and humans can enjoy life together.
Importance of Birds:- Sarv Ashram Foundation believes that birds are the most beautiful gift of nature. Their presence not only decorates our environment with sweet sounds and colors, but they also play an important role in environmental balance, agriculture, and human life.
The main importance of birds are as follows:-
Maintaining environmental balance
* Birds eat pests, locusts and harmful insects, which protects crops and reduces the need for chemical pesticides.
Pollination and seed dispersal
* Many birds pollinate while taking nectar from flowers. Some birds eat fruits and drop their seeds far away, which leads to the birth of new plants and forests.
Protector of the ecosystem
* Birds like vultures keep the environment clean by eating dead animals. They help in preventing the spread of diseases.
Friends of agriculture
* Farmers consider birds as their companions, because they control pests that harm crops and increase the productivity of the fields.
Mental peace and inspiration
* The chirping and flight of birds give peace, happiness and inspiration to humans. They connect us to nature and bring positive energy to life.
Part of biodiversity
* Birds are an important part of biodiversity. If the number of birds decreases, the entire ecological balance will be disturbed and it will directly affect human life.
The importance of birds is not limited to the beauty of nature, but they are deeply connected to our life, health and future security.
Current problems: – In today’s time, the life of birds is surrounded by many challenges and dangers. Sarva Ashram Foundation believes that their role is very important in maintaining natural balance, but due to increasing human activities and environmental crises, their number is decreasing rapidly. The main problems are as follows –
Lack of habitat: – Urbanization, deforestation, expansion of fields and construction of buildings are destroying the natural homes of birds. There is a decreasing number of places to build nests on trees and live safely.
Pollution: – Noise pollution (loudspeakers, noise of vehicles) disrupts the voice and communication of birds. Air pollution and contamination of water are a serious threat to their health and life.
Pesticides and chemicals: Chemicals and pesticides used in farming make the food of birds (insects, seeds, fruits) poisonous. Due to this, many birds die or their reproductive capacity decreases.
Climate change: Sudden changes in weather, irregular rainfall and extreme heat/cold have a negative impact on the migration and life cycle of birds.
Hunting and illegal trade: Even today, birds are hunted in some areas and many species are caught illegally to make pets or sell them. Due to this, their numbers are continuously decreasing.
Lack of food: Due to the decrease in the number of trees in cities and villages and the destruction of natural places, birds are not able to get enough food (fruits, seeds, insects).
Modern technology and dangers: Radiation waves emanating from mobile towers, colliding with tall glass buildings, getting entangled in electric wires – all these have become major threats to the lives of birds.
Bird problems are increasing due to both man-made and natural reasons. If these problems are not addressed in time, many species will become extinct forever in the coming years.
Solutions and improvements:- Sarva Ashram Foundation is continuously working to save birds and create a favorable environment for them. We believe that birds are not only the beauty of nature, but are also the axis of our ecosystem.
The solutions and improvements done by Sarva Ashram Foundation for birds are as follows:-
Safe habitat for birds
* The Foundation develops bird-friendly gardens in rural and urban areas.
* Nests and shade are arranged for birds by planting trees.
* Nest boxes are prepared and installed at needy places, so that birds get a safe place to live.
Water and food arrangements
* Water containers (Matka & Bowl) are installed so that birds do not face shortage of water in summer.
* Local grains and grains are kept in open places for birds.
* This work is done especially in schools, parks and temples with the participation of children and youth, so that awareness increases in the society.
Awareness campaign
* Villagers, students and common citizens are informed about the importance and conservation of birds.
* Awareness is spread through campaigns like “Save Birds, Save Future”.
* Rallies and workshops are organized on special occasions (such as World Environment Day, Bird Day).
Care of injured birds
* Injured or sick birds are treated by the Foundation’s associate doctors and volunteers.
* A rescue team has been formed especially for birds injured during kite flying.
* After treatment, they are released back into the natural environment.
Research and collaboration
* The Foundation studies the migration of birds, their numbers and environmental challenges.
* Sustainable programs are run in collaboration with the local administration, environmental organizations and schools.
New reforms
* “Adopt a Bird Program” – People take responsibility of providing water and food to a bird.
* Bird-Friendly Clubs are formed in schools and colleges.
* Information about injured birds can be immediately sent to the Foundation through mobile app or helpline.
Sarv Ashram Foundation believes that birds are the soul of our environment. If we keep birds safe, both the balance of nature and human life will be safe. The Foundation’s efforts are continuously going on in this direction, and we want every citizen to be a part of this mission.
